( unfortunately, this isn't a nice surprise. he sends chopper out first who makes an attempt to, at least, urge sanji away from the door so zoro can come through.
in one hand he has a small sack, over his shoulder is a much larger one. he looks over at sanji with a nasty look on his face and sucks his teeth before he goes to the railing and tosses the small sack over. the other he drops down with a heavy thunk against the deck, crosses his arms, and glares at the other man. )
This food is bad. What do you want to do with it?
( which should be enough indicator of what creepy crawlies were in the other bag. )
[ he doesn't know what to expect when that door opens, raising his brow with even more confusion when chopper appears out of it and tries to guide him out of the way, his gaze still lifting to watch zoro bring out those sacks, following him with eyes all the way to the railing.
he's still a bit confused with the mention of bad food, a moment longer needed to piece it all together, finally undergoing the realization of what exactly it had been in that smaller bag.
all the color disappears from his face, body shuddering. ]

( see? this is why he wanted sanji to leave. he was being nice and considerate for once. it's such a rare thing that sanji should've just listened to him. there are many, many things that zoro would and does make fun of sanji for, but this one isn't it. and that's only because zoro can see what it does to him; he remembers the first time and the look on sanji's face. the insult had died halfway through on his tongue and tasted so bitter.

zoro sighs and lifts his hand to rub at the back of neck. he'd thought about just leaving it in there because he knows how sanji feels about wasted food, but this seems to take precedence because there were so many scuttling around and in a lot of their rice. )
[ well, of all the things that could've been happening in there, this hadn't been on the list of his considerations, mostly because sanji spends enough time trying not to think about aforementioned creepy crawlies. even now, knowing zoro has already discarded the other sack, he feels sick in his stomach. ]

[ he's now recognizing just how much of a favor zoro's granted him here, something that leaves him feeling a flutter of something that's definitely just the sickness of imagining bugs around the ship and nothing else at all.
giving a rub to his arms, easing away the goosebumps underneath his jacket, he sighs, crouching down and carefully tucking open the sack to peer cautiously inside to check the damage. ]
No. Some of it can be washed out. Whatever's inedible can be used for compost and gardening. Even if we can't eat it, food's always got a purpose.
( it's annoying that he feels some kind of way about sanji to do this for him. there was a time when he wouldn't have even considered it unless he was asked. but, he'd seen one darting under the door and followed it. he wouldn't say it was an infestation or anything, but there was definitely more than one little gross bug scuttling around in there.
he'd even cleaned up; though chopper did help with that part after getting spooked when the last of them made a pathetic last ditch effort to get away from zoro's boot, anyway. )
